BISSAU, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The 20th Chinese medical team in Guinea-Bissau on Sunday provided free consultations at Canchungo Regional Hospital, located 72 km north of Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau.

The consultations, which covered specialities such as general consultations, internal medicine, orthopaedics, surgery, gynaecology, and dermatology benefited around 220 people.

Estevao Malu, the director general of Canchungo Regional Hospital, thanked the Chinese government "for the support it has always given to Guinea-Bissau in the development of its health sector."

He also commended the Chinese medical team in Guinea-Bissau for their humanitarian efforts, in particular an initiative to dedicate one month to the promotion of traditional Chinese medicine, in addition to the free consultations offered to the population.

The Chinese medical team, which comes from China's North Sichuan Medical College, also provided free medicines to hospital patients, military barracks and veterans.
