Senior Chinese diplomat meets Japanese FM

BEIJING, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with Yoshimasa Hayashi, Japan's Minister for Foreign Affairs, in Beijing on Sunday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said China-Japan relations are generally stable at present, but there are noises and interferences from time to time. The fundamental cause is that some forces in Japan deliberately follow the erroneous China policy of the United States and cooperate with the U.S. side to discredit China and make provocations on issues concerning China's core interests, which is short-sighted, wrong and unwise.

Noting that China maintains continuity and stability in its policy toward Japan, Wang said China is willing to work with Japan to build bilateral relations that meet the requirements of the new era based on the four political documents between the two countries.

It is hoped that the Japanese side will act upon the important consensus that the two countries are cooperative partners and do not pose a threat to each other, and work together with the Chinese side to improve and develop China-Japan relations, Wang said.

For his part, Hayashi said that Japan stands ready to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of two countries, build constructive and stable bilateral ties, and achieve win-win as well as all-win results.
