Chinese automaker Chery launches new model in Israel
JERUSALEM, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese carmaker Chery began selling a new model in Israel on Sunday, as announced by its official Israeli dealership, Freesbe.
The new model, Arrizo 8, is a plug-in hybrid mid-size sedan equipped with a 1.5-liter turbine engine. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 185 km/h, with a pure electric range exceeding 100 km.
Chery entered the Israeli market in November 2022 and has since offered the gasoline-powered crossover models Tiggo 7 Pro, Tiggo 8 Pro, and FX, also known as the Omada 5.
In January this year, the company launched its first full-electric model in Israel, the compact crossover SUV FX EV, an electric version of FX.
According to data from the Israel Vehicle Importers Association, Chery ranks seventh in Israel's car sales chart for the first 11 months of 2024, with 12,214 units sold.
Between January and November, the carmaker ranked fourth in Israel's electric car sales chart with 4,410 units sold, following China's BYD Auto, U.S. carmaker Tesla, and China's MG Motor.
