China Mobile holds conference on digital economy in Indonesia

JAKARTA, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- China Mobile, China's leading telecommunications company, held a conference here on Friday to explore development trends for digital economy in Southeast Asia.
The 2023 Southeast Asia Regional Cooperation Conference brought together government officials and businesses from China and Southeast Asian countries to foster collaboration to accelerate digital transformation, and promote sustainable and inclusive development in the region.
Gao Tongqing, executive vice president of China Mobile Communications Group, told the conference that his company saw the event an opportune time to move forward with its partners to accelerate collaboration between digital economies of China and Southeast Asia.
Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Kao Kim Hourn, who delivered a speech at the event, encouraged China Mobile to join hands with regional partners to promote development of the digital economy in Southeast Asia.
During the event, China Mobile announced its new strategic cooperation with Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel). Meanwhile, its subsidiary China Mobile International (CMI) signed strategic cooperation memoranda with China-ASEAN Information Harbor, PT Indosat Tbk and Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd to strengthen cooperation with partners in various fields.
