A tourism and cultural industry promotion conference was held on Monday in Sanya, south China's Hainan Province, with an attempt to boost the island province's tourism resources and tap business opportunities in Australian market, China News Service reported.

A delegation of 60 people from Australian travel agencies and media, as well as Internet celebrities participated in the conference, experienced the cultural charm of Hainan's ethnic groups, and gained comprehensive insights into Hainan's tourism policies and products.

The delegation also visited various places including Haikou, Danzhou, Baoting, and Sanya in the province. The well-equipped golf courses and high-end hotels left a deep impression on the members of the delegation.

Hainan has world-class golf courses, which are very attractive to Australian tourists, said Sheri Yu, who has been working in the tourism industry in Australia for 17 years.

From May to June this year, Haikou resumed air flight routes to Sydney and Melbourne to welcome more inbound tourism groups from Australia.
