BRICS Business Council
BRICS countries include Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Since the establishment of the BRICS cooperation mechanism, the Foundation for cooperation between these countries has grown stronger, with an expanding range of cooperative fields under the guidance of the leaders of these countries. On March 27, 2013, the leaders of BRICS countries witnessed the signing of the Declaration on the Establishment of the BRICS Business Council. The primary objective of the BRICS Business Council is to enhance economic, trade, commercial and investment connections among the business communities of the BRICS countries, facilitate regular dialogues between the business communities and governments, address and eliminate barriers and obstacles that hinder economic, trade and investment connections, and provide solutions and suggestions to the governments of the BRICS countries. From 2014 to 2021, COSCO SHIPPING assumed the chairmanship of the Chinese Chapter of the BRICS Business Council, spearheading the efforts of all the Chinese council members. Since 2022, COSCO SHIPPING has continued its commitment as a valued member of the BRICS Business Council.
In 2017, as the rotating chair of BRICS, China held a series of events at the BRICS Summit in Xiamen in southeast China's Fujian Province. COSCO SHIPPING, as the chairman organization of the BRICS Business Council and member of the Council Secretariat, successfully hosted the Council's annual meeting under the guidance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
